# Felt piano — A/B demo The same phrase (a register tour, then a I–vi–IV–V progression with a melody, everything left to ring) played with two synthesis approaches: - **`piano-old-plucked-KS.mp3`** — the current `feltPiano`, built on Karplus-Strong. KS is a *plucked* string algorithm, which is why it reads as a plucked guitar/harp rather than a piano. - **`piano-new-struck.mp3`** — the proposed `struckPiano`: additively synthesized as a *struck* string — felt-hammer thunk on the onset, slightly-stretched (inharmonic) partials, higher partials decaying faster than the fundamental so the strike mellows into a warm sustain, two slightly-detuned strings, soft felt attack. If the new one reads as a (felt) piano, I'll swap it in for `feltPiano` and re-render the piano-dependent takes (Caves Vaulted C, Pillars Cloister A/B/C, Overworld B). Brightness is tunable (`bright` 0…1) — say if you want it warmer or more present.
