# Crystal Lattice v3b — Cold Lattice (the resonant chamber) `crystal-lattice-v3b` — levels: `calm.mp3` · `activity1.mp3` · `activity2.mp3` · `danger1.mp3` · `danger2.mp3` The BOLDER second reading of Cold Lattice (C# minor pentatonic) — a different structural and instrumentation angle on the same indifferent- geometry brief, under the locked corrections. Standalone (§7.7): no family motif, symmetry for nobody. THREE departures from a faithful take: (1) the §4.2 'lattice hum — paired drones a pure fifth apart' Depth intent is RETIRED as a depth/noise bed and folded into the PITCHED bed (correction 3): a darkDrone root + a softPad pure fifth, very low and slow, breathing under each two-bar span — the chamber itself humming, the cold rendered as a fifth, not as hiss; it also holds the sparse mix above the dead-air floor without ever filling the silence with events. (2) The COLOR voice is glassBell (facet glints), colder and more crystalline than a celesta lead, so this take does not read like the faithful one; the caveCelesta stays exactly where the brief seats it — a single tone per bar struck and left to decay fully (the bed toll). No piano (correction 1 doesn't bind): a struck piano would warm a piece that must stay cold; the brief names celesta. (3) The symmetry is a literal PALINDROME the lattice repeats at a larger scale. Calm = bed only (ch0-3): widely-spaced pentatonic pad dyads with long silences, the hum-fifth low underneath, one celesta toll per bar left to ring. Activity L1 (ch4-5) = the palindrome on glassBell (same contour UP then DOWN) + one quiet octave-up reflection a bar later (the figure at another scale). Activity L2 (ch6-7) ADDS NEW MATERIAL, not volume: the SAME contour AUGMENTED x2 two octaves down (the lattice repeating larger) + a held open-fifth pad counter-voice opening under the line. Danger runs at a FASTER encounter tempo (76 BPM vs the glacial 60 — correction 2's faster danger-section): danger1 (ch8-9) is real unease/the approach — glassy crack-ticks flexing under your weight, alternating across the stereo field, and a low strain drone breathing in and out (the lattice taking the load), NOT near-silence. danger2 (ch10-11) is the active flee: a GENUINE intensity jump — the deep boom of a pane giving way, a DRIVING crack-tick rhythm flurrying in the gap behind it (even subdivisions, shards skating off), and the strain surging up; denser, faster-framed, higher-energy — but still MOSTLY SMALL glassy sounds (the smallness is the dread, per the brief). We evoke thin glass underfoot; we do not foley a collapse — no literal sound-painting (correction 2), no ambient soundscape rendered (correction 3). Fully diatonic C# minor pentatonic throughout; the only chromatic-looking notes (C/D#/G/A#) are the crackTick PERCUSSION pitches, not harmony.
